영화 <죽은 시인의 사회>의 수사학적 분석 - 배치(dispositio) 관점에서 바라본 키팅의 설득전략을 중심으로

현대 수사학은 언어를 넘어 문화와 예술의 영역까지 그 연구범위를 확장해나가고 있다. 수사학은 언어적 표현을 다루고 있는 것으로 알려져 있지만, 다른 사람에게 영향을 줄 수 있는 수사적 요인이 있는 경우, 수사학은 언어외부에 존재할 수 있는지에 대한 물음이 생길 수 있다. 수사학의 핵심작용인설득이 영화를 통해서 어떻게 일어날 수 있는지, 수사적 소통수단으로서 영화가 어떻게 수사학 이론으로 포섭될 수 있는지 논의해 보고자 한다. 영화 수사학의 이론 정립의 가능성 여부를 살펴본 후, 영화 <죽은 시인의 사회>를수사학적으로 분석한다. 특히 배치(dispositio)를 중심으로 키팅 선생의 말하기에 나타난 설득전략을 분석하기로 한다.
Abstract
Modern rhetoric is expanding its scope of research beyond language to the realm of culture and art. Rhetoric is known to deal with linguistic expressions, but when there are rhetorical factors that can influence others, the question may arise as to whether rhetoric can exist outside of language. We will examine how persuasion, a core function of rhetoric, can occur through film. I would like to discuss how movies, as a means of rhetorical communication, can be included in rhetorical theory. After examining the possibility of establishing a theory of film rhetoric, the film <Dead Poets Society> is analyzed rhetorically. In particular, we will analyze the persuasion strategies shown in Keating's speech, focusing on dispositio.
