Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility and meaning of praxial music education as ecological transformation education. Ecological transformation education aims at 'Self-realization' that is connected, coexisted, and realized with ecology, and the core is to break away from the modern concept of anthropocentrism. Accordingly, the researcher argues that praxial music education based on embodied cognition has the potential as an ecological transformation education because it has the 'possibility of expansion' to the world through the musical self that connects, establishes relationships with, and participates in the world. In conclusion, praxial music education reminds us that human beings belong to nature and ecology through the autonomous 'musical self' that is embodied and enactive through body and action, and allows us to understand the value of various beings existing in the ecosystem through musical imagination and empathy. Additionally, it can help music sensitivity and musicality by viewing nature and ecology as a musical landscape, and expand artistic citizenship by including ecological problems in the common good of humanity. Moreover, the musical self of praxial music education that connects to the world through body, action, imagination and empathy is valuable because it can supplement the limitations of ecological transformation education that can be misled by absolute equality of ecology and humans by establishing relationships with the world centering on humans.
