장애인문학 은유 속 장애 해석하기 -고인이 된 장애시인의 시를 중심으로-

문학은 사람이 살아가는 삶의 모습이나 생각을 표현하는 작업으로 그 방식이 매우 전략적이다. 그 전략이란 보편성과 특수성이 함께 존재하는 것이다. 문학은 ‘나’의 고백을 통해, ‘우리’의 울림 으로 확장시킬 수 있는 에너지가 있다. 그래서 장애인문학은 장애인이라는 특수성을 그저 한 시 대를 살아가는 사람이라는 보편적 시각으로 볼 수 있게 만든다. 우리나라에서 장애인문학이 시작 된 것은 1991년 장애인문학지 솟대문학이 창간되면서부터인데 장애인문학이란 장애문인의 주 체적인 문학 활동으로 정의하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 장애인문학을 이미 고인이 된 남인우, 이상 열, 서정슬, 최종진, 김옥진 시인과 시 작품을 연구 대상으로, 시인이 살아온 삶의 이야기(story) 와 작품 속에서 은유적으로 표현된 담화(discourse)를 내러티브(narrative) 연구방법으로 탐색하 였다. 장애인문학 속에 내재된 장애에 대한 해석은 문학의 장점인 개인의 고백을 우리의 울림으 로 확산시켜서 장애인과 비장애인의 간극을 줄이는 역할을 할 것이다. 최근 장애인예술이 활기를 띠고 있지만 장애인문학은 여전히 장애인예술정책 밖에 있어서 장애인문학이 본연의 역할을 하지 못하고 있기에 장애인문학의 역할과 문제 해결을 위한 과제를 제시하고자 한다.
Abstract
Literature is the work of expressing people’s various aspects of life and thoughts, and its way of expression is very strategic. This strategy involves the coexistence of universality and particularity. Literature possesses the energy to extend from the confession of the individual (‘I’) to the resonance of the collective (‘we’). Therefore, disability literature enables us to see the specificity of the disabled from the univer- sal perspective in which they are human beings living in a particular era. In South Korea, disability literature began with the establishment of the disability literature journal ‘Sotdae Literature’ in 1991. Disability literature is defined as the autonomous literary activities of disabled writers. This study explored the criticism of disability literature by looking into the works of deceased poets who are Nam In-woo, Lee Sang-yeol, Seo Jeong-seul, Choi Jong- jin, and Kim Ok-jin, and examining their life stories and metaphorically expressed discourses in their works in a narrative research method. Interpreting disability inherent in disability literature will serve to narrow the gap between disabled and non-disabled individuals by spreading the strength of liter- ature, which is personal confession, to resonate with our collective experiences. However, despite the recent vitality of disability arts, literature remains largely outside of disability arts policies. For this reason, disability literature fails to fulfill its inherent role. Therefore, this study tries to propose development tasks for dis- ability literature.
