Abstract

The Lausanne principles of workplace theology and ministry holistically represent the missional vision and the content of the ministry. This purpose of this paper is to examine the main themes on workplace theology and ministry that can be seen and emphasized in the three main congress documents, the Lausanne Covenant, the Manila Manifesto and the Cape Town Commitment, Marketplace Ministry (LOP 40), Lausanne Global Analysis (LGA), and the 2019 Global Workplace Forum. This paper suggests the implications and challenges of Lausanne theology to the Korean church related to missional ecclesiology, discipleship and priesthood of all believers, and theological education for Christians in the workplace. These factors would challenge Korean Christians to reexamine their understanding of the church and mission in everyday life and ministry. Currently there is a wide gap between works on Sunday and Monday in the Korean church, Therefore this paper deals with the holistic dimension of Lausanne theology and finds out that the workplace theology of the Lausanne movement suggests missiological implications such as the rediscovering the essence of the church based on the missional ecclesiology, the renewing the pastoral leadership leading the lay people to workplace ministers based on the discipleship and priesthood of all believers, and radical shift of theological education for the workplace. The Lausanne’s missional ecclesiology should be embodied in the workplace and neighbors where every Christian is sent, participated, and identified.
