관계 중심적 명예-수치 문화에서의 기독교 세계관

A Christian Worldview in Relationship-centered Honor-Shame Cultures

초록

21세기 선교는 세계관의 변화에 초점을 맞추어야 한다. 그러나 여전히“어떤 내용의 기독교 세계관을 선교지에 제시해야 하는가?”라는 질문이제기된다. 우리가 제시하는 기독교 세계관도 문화나 사회적 상황의 영향을 전혀 받지 않은 초문화적인(culture-free) 것들이 아니다. 질서 중심적 서구 문화의 사고방식을 반영하는 기독교 세계관은 서구인들에게는 나름대로 설득력을 가진다. 그러나 서구에서 형성된 “기독교 세계관”도 서구 문화의 관점으로부터 자유롭지 않다. 선교적 차원에서 고려해볼 때, 기독교세계관도 문화적으로 상황화되지 않으면 문화를 변혁시키고 영적 성숙을불러오는 일에 열매를 맺기 어렵다. 따라서 필자는 관계 중심적 명예-수치 문화의 관점에서 기독교 세계관을 제시하고자 한다. 우주의 모든 피조물들은 최고의 시혜자(patron)이신 하나님이 베푸시는은혜를 받는 수혜자(client)로서 올바른 관계 안에서 마땅히 하나님을 경배하고, 찬송하고, 감사하고, 영화롭게 하도록 되어 있었다. 하나님은 명예롭게도 하나님의 형상으로 인간을 만드셨으며, 인간은 하나님과 올바른관계 속에서 땅을 다스리는 사명을 충성스럽게 감당함으로써 하나님을명예롭게 하도록 되어 있었다. 그러나 인간은 하나님과 대등한 영광을 갖고자 하는 헛된 욕망을 따라 배은망덕적인 반역죄를 지어 죄책과 수치를갖게 되었고, 거짓 수치와 헛된 명예라는 세상적 시스템을 따라 죄를 짓는 존재로 전락하였다. 인간은 하나님과 올바른 관계를 맺지 못하고, 동료 인간 및 다른 피조물과도 올바른 관계를 맺지 못하는 존재가 되었다. 하나님은 예수 그리스도의 십자가 대속과 부활 사건을 통해서 하나님과관계를 회복하고, 명예로운 하나님 형상과 사명을 회복할 수 있는 길을다시 열어놓으셨다. 하나님과 관계를 회복한 인간은 이제 시혜자인 하나님의 은혜를 감사하며 하나님을 명예롭게 하는 삶을 살기 위해서, 명예와수치에 대한 세상적 관점을 버리고 하나님 나라의 관점을 확립해야 한다.

Abstract

21st century missions should focus on transforming worldviews. However, the question still arises, “What kind of Christian worldview should be presented in the mission fields?” Is the Christian worldview that we present in the mission fields culture-free, unaffected by cultural or social contexts? The Christian worldview that reflects the order-centered thinking of Westerners has its own persuasive power to Westerners. However, the “Christian worldview” formed in the West is not free from the Western culture. From a missional point of view, the Christian worldview cannot succeed in transforming culture and bringing about spiritual maturity unless it is culturally contextualized. Therefore, I would like to explain the Christian worldview anew from the point of view of honor-shame and relationship-centered culture. All creatures in the universe were supposed to worship, praise, give thanks, and glorify God in the right relationship as clients of God, the Supreme Patron. God created human beings in His image and gave them honor accordingly. Man was supposed to honor God by faithfully fulfilling his mission to rule the earth in a right relationship with God. However, human beings have committed the sin of ungrateful treason to have glory on an equal footing with God, and thus have guilt and shame, and have been reduced to beings following the worldly system of false shame and vain honor. He was unable to establish a right relationship with God and with fellow humans and other creatures. Through the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God re-opened the way for us to restore our relationship with God and restore the honorable image of God. Humans who have restored their relationship with God must now abandon the worldly view of honor and shame and establish a view of them from the kingdom of God in order to live a life that honors God by giving thanks for the grace of God, the Patron.
