초등학교 통일교육의 신패러다임에 관한 연구

통일교육은 통일을 이룩하기까지 그리고 통일 이후에 통일 국가의 구성원으로서 지녀야 할 바람직한 삶의 양식과 가치관을 형성시켜 주는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 하지만 새롭게 조성되고 있는 남북한의 화해 협력 관계와 통일 여건을 만들어 가는 데 있어서 현재의 통일교육이 체계적으로 부응하고 있다고 말하기는 어렵다. 이에 이 글에서는 학교 통일교육의 새로운 패러다임을 평화와 번영을 지향하는 통일교육이 되어야 한다는 전제 아래, 학교 통일교육이 지향해야 할 일곱 가지의 방향을 제시하였다. 즉, 평화와 번영을 지향하는 학교 통일교육은 ① 통일을 과정으로 파악하는 통일교육, ② 통일의 필요성(실용성)을 강조하는 통일교육, ③ 인간 안보를 중시하는 통일교육, ④ 민주 시민성을 중시하는 통일교육, ⑤ 민족공동체의 정신을 중시하는 통일교육, ⑥ 평화 능력을 중시하는 통일교육, ⑦ 학습자의 능동성을 강조하는 통일교육으로 전개되어야 한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to propose the new paradigm of unification education in the elementary schools. Under the consideration of the changed unification environment, current unification education lags behind the age of peace and prosperity. In this regard, this study proposed seven principles of unification education matching the needs of new unification environment: ① Unification education should regard unification itself as a process rather than a product. ② Unification education should emphasize the utility of national unification. ③ Unification education should highlight human security rather than mere military security. ④ Unification education should attach much importance to cultivating democratic citizenship. ⑤ Unification education should lay stress on developing the spirit of national community. ⑥ Unification education should take students' peace capacity seriously. ⑦ Unification education should emphasize students' spontaneity in learning process.
