고교학점제의 교과 이수 기준 설정에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to establish the standard of course completion in high schools with a credit system and present its implementation plans to apply the standard to schools. This study defines the standard of course completion as a criterion for determining whether or not students successfully complete the courses, in other words, for deciding whether or not students can earn credits in their courses. The standard of course completion contains two aspects of course expectations; class attendance and academic achievement. Students should meet two sets of the requirements in order to earn credits: (1) at least two-thirds attendance times out of the total instructional times of the course; and (2) above 40% level of students’ academic achievement. In the study, the minimum performance level as a criterion of indicating how well students meet the academic expectations for their courses is determined as the 40% of academic achievement. The minimum performance level means a categorical level used to report overall student performance by describing the minimum degree of students’ academic achievement of courses. This study reset the E level(minimum performance level), which is less than 60% of achievement in the current academic achievement level system, as 40% or more and less than 60% of academic achievement. It also developed the samples of the minimum performance level descriptors demonstrating the characteristics of students’ academic performance in a compulsory course and an optional course in the five subject areas of Korean, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and Science, respectively. The minimum performance level describes the knowledge and skills representing the minimum degree of academic achievement. It practices as the evidence for teachers’ judgement that students can be able to demonstrate at the level as well.
