이 연구는 보편적 학습설계를 중학교 수업에 적용하는 실행연구를 통해 수업혁신의 원리를 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구대상 학교인 A중학교는 모든 학생들이 참여하는 배움중심수업을 구현하기 위해 노력해 왔다. 이 과정에서도 학생들의 학습격차를 해결하는 데에는 많은 어려움이 있었다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 보편적 학습설계의 원리를 A중학교의 상황에 맞게 적용하고자 실행연구를 진행했다. A중학교 교사들은 연구자의 협의 하에 사전모임, 수업참관, 사후모임 등을 통해 ‘협력적 학습구조의 형성’, ‘배움의 걸림돌 제거’, ‘표현 방식의 다양화’ 등의 원리를 적용해 갔다. 그리고 ‘실행 중 성찰’을 반복하면서 모든 교사들이 적용할 수 있는 수업혁신의 방안을 찾아 갔다. 이 연구에서는 이러한 실행연구를 통해 보편적 학습설계의 원리를 확산하기 위한 시사점을 다음과 같이 도출하였다. 학교의 상황에 따른 실천적 연구, 기존의 수업혁신 성과와 보편적 학습설계의 결합, 보편적 학습설계 원리에 대한 단계적 접근, 직관적으로 이해할 수 있는 수업 원리 도출 등이 필요하다. 또한 이를 활성화하기 위해 진단도구의 개발, 협력교사제 확대 등을 포함한 중층적 지원 시스템이 학교에 구축될 수 있도록 교육당국의 지원이 필요하다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to derive the principle of instruction innovation through action research that applies universal design for learning to middle school classes. Teachers of A Middle School has been trying to implement a learning-oriented instruction in which all students participate. In this process, there were many difficulties in solving the learning-gap between students. To solve this problem, an action research was conducted to apply the principle of universal design for learning in A middle school. Under the consultation of middle school teachers and researchers, principles such as 'formation of a cooperative learning structure', 'removing obstacles to learning', and 'diversifying expression methods' were applied through pre-meeting, instruction observation, and post-meeting. By repeating "reflection in action", Teachers found a way to innovate instruction that all teachers can apply. Through these action research, the implications for spreading the principles of universal learning design were derived as follows. Action research according to the situation of the school, the combination of existing instruction innovation results and universal design for learning, a step-by-step approach to universal design for learning principles, and intuitively understandable instruction principles are needed. In addition, in order to revitalize this, support from the educational authorities is needed to establish a multi-layered support system in schools, including the development of diagnostic tools and the expansion of the cooperative teacher system.
