Abstract

In what situation is the civilization of today placed in its deep inner spiritual aspect from a morphological viewpoint of world history?Did technological rapid progress and accumulated intellectual experience indeed give true freedom and happiness to man?Modern people who have piled up more knowledge than in any other times and who live in the age of high science suffer from the pain called desolation of the spirit. The knowledge of today is very helpless to solve their inner problems, and the development of technology as an instrument for satisfying human desire has seriously threatened human survival itself as shown in Chernobyl nuclear accident. The fundamental problems of modern civilization as the inevitable end of culture are deteriorated value of life and lacked piety in life by the domination of non-spirituality,non-metaphysical thought and material and realistic thought. They result in natural destruction. How is the situation of 'digital image media' which has repeatedly developed on one side of technology? The digital image media of today is repeating technological expansion with tremendously spreading power obtaining very good results in the aspect of expanded communication and human sense. And we should not neglect that it rather shuts man up in a great wall of sense. We thought that the expansion of sense would give us more freedom. In fact, however, it rather prevents and restricts human existence. Now,it is time to have to reflect on digital media philosophically in the frame of fundamental reflection of civilization and knowledge themselves. This thesis deals with the question.
