이 논문은 현대의 문화적 전환이 초래한 디지털 시대의 인문학에 대해 논의한다. 이를 위해 이 글은 먼저 디지털 시대의 정의 및 내용과 이에 따라 생겨난 존재적 상황의 변화를 설명한다. 이렇게 변화한 문화적 상황에는 정보통신기술 뿐 아니라 생명공학의 발달에 따른 문화적 변화까지도 포함된다. 이러한 변화는 필연적으로 인간의 존재적 상황까지도 변화시키기에 그 변화의 핵심인 기술의 본질과 그에 따른 인간 이해 체제의 전환을 해명할 것이다. 디지털 시대로 대변되는 현대 사회에서 기술은 단순히 수단적 의미를 지니지 않고 인간의 존재론적 상황 전체를 변화시키는 본질적 의미를 지닌다. 이런 맥락에서 현대 사회에서 기술의 본질이 미치는 존재론적 요인에 대해 논의하는 것은 이 글의 본래 의도에 따른 당연한 귀결이다. 디지털 시대를 설명하는 이런 논의는 결국 존재론적 변화에 따른 인간 이해의 새로움이란 주제로 연결된다. 현재 새롭게 대두되는 (비판적) 포스트휴머니즘은 이러한 인간 이해의 새로움과 관련된 철학이다. 디지털 시대의 인문학을 해명하려는 이 글은 포스트휴머니즘과 관련된 인문학 논의를 통해 그 목적을 달성하고자 한다. 그럼에도 이 논문은 단순히 트랜스휴머니즘적 맥락에서가 아니라 휴머니즘 이후의 변화된 인간 이해에 바탕을 둔 인문학의 내용과 특성에 대해 논의할 것이다.
Abstract
This paper discusses the humanities of the digital age brought about by modern cultural transformation. To this purpose, this article explains the definition and content of the digital age and the resulting changes in the existential situation. This changed cultural situation includes not only information-communication technology, but also cultural changes due to the development of biotechnology. This change then discusses the essence of the technology, which is at the core of the change, and the subsequent transformation of the understanding on human being, as it inevitably changes even the human existential situation. In a modern society represented by the digital age, technology does not simply have a methodical meaning, but an essential meaning that changes the entire existential situation of humans. In this context, discussing the existential factors of the essence of technology in modern society is a consequent conclusion to the original purpose of this article. These discussions, which explain the digital age, eventually lead to the theme of a new understanding of human being as a result of existential changes, posthumanism, now emerging, is a philosophy associated with this novelty of human understanding. The article, which aims to explain the humanities of the digital age, pursues to achieve its purpose through the discussion of humanities related to critical posthumanism. Nevertheless this paper will discuss the content and characteristics of humanities based on the changed human understanding after humanism, not simply in the context of transhumanism.
