Abstract
Firms’ product innovations can be differentiated into new to the firm (imitative innovation) and new to the market (drastic innovation). Utilizing the 2016 Korea Innovation Survey for the manufacturing sector, this study empirically analyzes the effect of spillovers from different cooperative partners. The estimation results show that spillovers from cooperative partners have different effects on the sales of innovative products. Spillovers from private customers, universities, and research institutions increase the sales of products new to the market. On the other hand, incoming spillovers from competitors matter for the sales of products new to the firm but do not have any significant impact on product innovation new to the market.
