Abstract

This paper outlined what common areas of interests public history and women’s history have and how the two discipline have worked separately, as well as together, to expand our understanding of history. First, the paper discussed the historical importance of women’s roles in preservation and presentation of historical sites and museums and the meaning of presenting women’s lives in those places. Moreover, it showed how the advancements of women’s history were reflected in public history as some cases have revealed. This paper also considered various methods and ideas of public history that could help doing women’s history. By addressing achievements of public history and women’s history, it attempted to search better ways of doing history in this era of new public media and more public-inclined history.
