문학의 위상 변화와 문학 연구의 (탈)영토화- 최근 풍속-문화론적 연구의 한 경향에 대한 이의

Abstract

After the 2000s, one of the results that the sense of crisis in respect of ‘the end of modern literature’ was the rise of a new academic perspective calling existing modern idea toward literature into question and demystifying literature. In such stream, ‘custom-cultural studies’ show activity since the early 2000s. Through the consideration on the representative results of studies on Keijo(京城) where both custom-cultural and literary studies targeted as an object of study after 2000s, this study aimed to clarify the ‘difference’ between the two studies as well as find a new possibility of literary studies on space and place of Keijo. There is a difference that custom-cultural studies unify·homogenize the space of Keijo as well as consumes by visualizing it as a modern space, whereas literary studies are paying attention to the aspects of internal difference·segmentalization of the space seizing impossibility of space-forming of Keijo as a colonized city. Thus, a new possibility of literary studies in the studies on Keijo must reveal whether or not the language of literature standardizes·immobilizes spatial cognition and the sense of boundary toward Keijo, and if not, how the language resists against such uniformity·immobilization and emasculates them. While Keijo’s city planning and alteration of space by the colonial power were to unify·immobilize Keijo, fictitious Keijo that contemporary Korean literature is showing enables us to have various and different spatial cognition and the sense of boundary about Keijo by subverting such uniformity·immobilization-typed discussion. Accordingly, in studies on Keijo, the position of literary studies must be found in the spot where subversive imagination toward spatial cognition and the sense of boundary that are formed by the language of literature is caught.
