만주(滿洲)의 문학사적 표상과 안수길의 『북간도』에 나타난 ‘이산(移散)’의 문제

Abstract

In Korean literary history, the symbol of Manchuria has been rep- resented as ‘suffering or resistence’, ‘pro-Japaness or anti-Japaness’. But if we read Ahn Soo-gil’s works in this point of view, we probably make a misreading. His works are not stood between ‘pro-Japaness’ and ‘anti-Japaness’. What he emphasized is the daily life and the real trou- ble and difficult of Korean emigrants, so the most important point in his novels was the contradiction between ‘nationalty’ and ‘ethnic iden- tity’. He wanted to make an Utopia by Korean emigrants. In his thought, the new reclaimed land in Manchuria was better than pre- modernized homeland, better than homeland under the Japaness Imperial era. The most important thing is not ‘independence’ but the ‘life’. Be- cause most of Korean emigrants have choosen the ‘diaspora’ for their life, not for their political ideal. But after ‘Liberation in 1945’, when he wrote ꡔBooggando북간도ꡕ, he renewed the experiece of Manchria, and he projected more powerful nationalism. So the novel was cracked to the defference between writer’s own thought of Manchuria and the demand of nationalism. In this point, we have to make a new under- standing about all experiences of ‘diaspora’ which made in our time by Korean emigrants.
