Abstract
Blood total cholesterol levels have long been known to be related to coronary heart disease(CHD). in ad d.ition to total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) has become an important tool used to assess an in d.ividual risk of developing CHD since a strong negative relationship between HDL -C concentration and the incidence of CHD was reported. Thus, there has been substantial interest in HDL-C measurements and most clinical laboratories routinely perform HDL-C analysis. Selective chemical precipitation techniques such as heparin-manganese, dextran-magnesium, and phosphotungstate- magnesium are widely used for the determination of HDL-C. However, these techniques require physical separation via centrifugation, which is not suited to large scale laboratory use. This study was carried out to compare d.i rect HDL-C for quatitative analysis of HDL-C with samples of various concentrations .. This result are; 1. Precision of Wako and Daiichi Reagents showed CV value of 0.95% and 2.35% at low concentration & 0.00% and 2.59% at high concentration. 2. Correlation of Wako and Daiichi were y = 1.128x - 4.379 with R value of 0.989.
