A Study on the Linguistic Analysis of Contemporary Zen Poem

Literature is the art of language. Thus, literature is influenced greatly by the structure of the language. Zen is the dimension of the religion, while the poetry is the dimension of the literature. Zen poetry is a genre of unique modern contemporary poetry. In other words, modern zen poetry must be a sub-genre of contemporary poetry. Modern zen poetry has inherited the principles of reason and zen shapes. In addition, the language of zen poetry is implicit, conflict, and contradictory. The approach to analyze the language of poetry can be based on its phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. In this paper, the linguistic analysis of the poetic items is focused on verse line, tautology, word chain, honorification, metonymy, antonym, idiolect, rhyme, and delicate consonant. In order to ensure the validity of the linguistic analysis, we need to find a more thorough and systematic way, in which we define a common denominator to accommodate both the writer and the reader with emphasis on the areas of vocabulary and meaning.
