The purpose of this article is to examine the influence of chapel on char- acter education at Christian university. At first, this is based on the premise that university is required to cultivate students who possess upright character at the level of higher education. As its primary task, therefore, this article be- gins to investigate why character education is demanded at university, and if so, how university can promote character education. One of the most effec- tive ways that this article finds out is chapel at Christian university. Hence, the main point of this article becomes how chapel can play an effective role in promoting character education at Christian university. For this, it seeks to propose how chapel can educate university students in the eight values or virtues that the Act on the Promotion of Character Education suggests, and how chapel can contain other core values or virtues regarding upright char- acter that the Act additionally proposes.
