틈내기와 보여주기 - 슐라이어마허의 윤리학과 종교철학을 통해 본 대학에서의 성서 교육의 의미

본 연구는 현재 더욱 세속화되어가는 그리스도교 종립대학교에서 이루어지는 교양 교육의 일환인 성서 교육이 지니는 의미와 그 필요성을 프리드리히 다니엘 에른스트 슐라이어마허의 윤리학과 종교철학을 바탕으로 알아보고자 한다. 슐라이어마허에 따르면 인식과 그로부터 나타나는 학문적 체계는 동일성을 특징으로 하는 인식하는 행위, 즉 이성의 작용을 자연 속에서 인식하면서 그만의 고유한 인식을 서로 전달하면서 이성의 공통성을 발견하는 행위 과정과 관계한다. 학교와 아카데미 중간에 위치한 학문적 기관인 대학은 다양한 지식을 서로 연계하고 그럼으로써 학생들이 더욱 수준높은 교육 단계로 나아가도록 준비시키는 과제를 지닌다. 슐라이어마허에 따르면 우주의 작용에 대한 수동성으로 특징지어지는 종교는 우주에 대한 다양한 이해와 서술들을 보여준다. 그래서 종교는 오직 한 관점으로만 삶 전체를 아우르려는 체계가 전체에 비해서 상대적이라는 점을 상기시키고 그가 파악하지 못한 새로운 삶의 모습을 보여준다. 종교성이 예수 그리스도의 구원을 통하여 개진된 그리스도교의 경전인 성서는 나사렛 예수가 살아가는 동안 하느님의 인도 및 주재하심만을 자유롭게 순종하여 드러냈다고 증언한다. 이러한 성서의 증언은 그 동안 구축된 인간상에 성찰하게 하고 새로운 인간상 구성이 실제로 가능하다고 말한다. 이와 같은 성서의 기능을 통하여 학생들은 지금까지 구축된 인간상을 전제로 하는 학문을 비판적으로 갱신할 수 있고 새로운 인간의 모습을 보여준 예수의 삶을 기억하면서 새로운 학문적 체계 구축이 실제로 가증하다는 점을 알게 된다. 대학에서의 성서 교육이 지니는 의미와 대체불가능성은 성서가 예수 그리스도에 대한 증언을 통하여 지금까지 구축된 학문적 체계과 인간상을 갱신할 수 있는 초월을 가리키는 데에 있다.
Abstract
This study attempts to clarify the meaning and necessity of biblical teaching in the context of liberal arts education in a university that is becoming increasingly secularized by examining the ethics and religious philosophy of Friedrich D. E. Schleiermacher. According to Schleiermacher, cognition and the resulting scientific system are based on cognitive action under the character of identity, that one recognizes the effect of reason in nature and through the communication of one’s own cognition increasingly expresses the commonality of reason. The university, the institution between school and academy, has the task of putting the various findings into connection and thus preparing students for the higher level of education. Religion, which, according to Schleiermacher, is characterized by passivity to the effect of the universe, describes the various understandings and representations of the universe, so that it reminds a system that tries to grasp the entire life through one perspective alone, of its relativity in comparison to the whole and brings to light a new view of life that has not previously dealt with such the system. The Bible, the holy scripture of Christianity, which expresses the religiosity conditioned by the redemption of Jesus Christ, testifies to Jesus of Nazareth, who with his free obedience throughout his entire life only signifies the rule and guidance of God, so that one can reflect the previous images of humanity that have been built up and thus recognize that the formation of a new image of humanity is possible. Through this function of the Bible, students can critically renew the previous science, which is based on an image of humanity, and present the possibility of building a new scientific system by remembering the reality of the new possibility with a view to the l ife of Christ. The meaning and irreplaceability of biblical teaching in university is that the Bible, with its testimony of Jesus Christ, shows the transcendent which can renew the current scientific system and the image of humanity.
