학령인구가 점점 감소하고 있는 국내 상황과 맞물려서 가파르게 증가하고 있는 외국인 유학생에 대한 교육적 관심이 크게 증가하고 있다. 이러한 대학 교육의 상황 가운데 기독교대학에서도 외국인 유학생 선교에 대한 관심과 이에 따른 효과적인 선교적 전략의 수립이 지속적으로 요청되고 있다. 더욱 다양한 국가로부터 계속해서 증가하고 있는 외국인 유학생들에 대한 선교방안의 필요성에 비하여 여기에 대한 연구가 부족한 현실이다. 외국인 유학생에 대한 논의는 국가정책을 반영하여 근래에 들어 활발하게 논의가 되고 있으나, 선교적 측면에서 이를 다루고 있는 연구들은 중국 유학생들을 중심으로 다룬 몇몇 연구 외에는 충분한 논의가 이루어지지 않았다. 이런 시점에서 본 논문은 외국인 유학생에 대한 효과적인 선교전략과 그 실질적인 방법을 논의해 보면서 대학선교의 새로운 패러다임으로 대두되고 있는 외국인 유학생 선교의 중요성을 일깨움과 동시에, 막막해 보이는 학원 내 외국인 유학생 선교에서 적용해 볼 수 있는 선교방법을 모색해 보고자한다. 특별히 본 연구는 명지대학교에서 진행하고 있는 외국인 유학생 선교 사역의 실례를 살펴보는 가운데 더 효과적인 외국인 유학생 선교선략과 방법을 제안하고 있다. 결론적으로 본 논문은 외국인 유학생을 향한 선교사업의 가치와 가능성을 성경에서 가르치고 있는 복음전파의 핵심적 사명과 연결하는 가운데 한국대학에 찾아온 선물과 같은 외국인 유학생을 배려하는 섬김 사역의 중요성과 방법을 논증하고 있다.
Abstract
Against the backdrop of a shrinking school-age population in South Korea, there is a growing educational interest in international students within university missions. Christian universities, in particular, need to develop effective missionary strategies for international students. At this juncture, this paper explores the path, that Korean Christian universities should take in reaching out to international students. Firstly, the researcher argues that missionary efforts towards international students should no longer be peripheral but central in christian university mission. Secondly, the paper proposes missionary methodologies and strategies tailored to the practical needs of international students. Thirdly, it examines the practical situation of missionary work among international students at Myoung-Ji University, offering suggestions for more effective missionary efforts. Ultimately, this paper underscores the value and potential of missionary work directed towards international students, aligning it with the core mission of gospel propagation taught in the Bible. It also argues for the importance of serving international students, regarding them as gifts brought to Korean universities, in connection with the essential mission of gospel service.
