재한외국인 유학생의 갈등 해소를 위한 교회의 실천방안

우리나라의 저출산으로 인해 대학교의 재학 충원율이 저조해지는 양상을 보인다. 이로 인한 재정의 어려움을 겪는 대학을 중심으로 재한외국인 유학생의 유치에 적극적인 노력을 하고 있다. 따라서 근 재한외국인 유학생 수도 증가하는 추세이다. 그러나 이러한 재한외국인 유학생의 증가와 달리 재한외국인 유학생은 한국 대학생의 편견과 차별로 인해 다양한 심리·사회적 갈등에 노출되는 실정이다. 따라서 그들의 한국사회 적응과 건강한 삶에 있어 예수님의 사랑을 실천하는 교회의 역할이 중요해 보인다. 본 고는 재한외국인 유학생과의 면담내용에 대한 분석을 토대로 그들의 갈등 해소를 위한 교회의 다양한 실천방안을 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 더불어 본 연구는 2019년 6월부터 9월까지 인천 소속 대학의 재한외국인 유학생을 대상으로 연구가 진행되었다. 연구 대상자의 특징은 몽골인 2인, 중국인 2인, 베트남 2인이고, 남성 대학생 1인, 여학생 5인이며, 연구방법은 참여자의 갈등경험에 관한 탐색이 가능한 현상학적 연구방법으로 연구를 진행하였다. 면담내용에 관한 분석 결과 “한국을 동질감으로 인해 선택했으나 차별을 당함”, “한국생활에 어려움을 경험함”, “사회적 관계로 인한 감정 변화가 생김”, “삶의 태도가 바뀜” 등의 4개의 대주제가 확인되었으며, 8개의 주제 모음, 20개의 소주제가 확인되었다. 연구결과에 근거하여 교회의 실천방안은 첫째, 한국 대학생과 재한외국인 유학생의 만남의 장으로서의 교회의 역할이 필요하다. 둘째, 교회를 중심으로 재한외국인 유학생에 대한 편견을 개선하기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 셋째 재한외국인 유학생의 심리·사회적 갈등 해소를 돕는 상담의 장으로서의 교회의 역할이 필요하다. 이러한 교회의 실천방안에 관한 연구를 통해 재한외국인 유학생이 직면한 심리·사회적 갈등이 해소되고 그들의 적응에 조금이나마 도움이 되었으면 하는 바람이다. 더불어 이러한 교회의 다양한 도움을 경험한 재한외국인 유학생이 귀국 후 예수님의 사랑을 전하는 선교사적인 역할 또한 기대해 본다.
Abstract
The university enrollment rate is showing the declining aspect due to the low birth rate and aging of our country. Our country is making active efforts to attract foreign students in Korea centering on universities with financial difficulties. Therefore, the number of foreign students studying in Korea has also been increasing recently. However, unlike this increase in the number of foreign students studying in Korea, foreign students in Korea are exposed to various psychological and social conflicts because of prejudice and discrimination of Korean students. Therefore, the role of churches of practicing the love of Jesus appears to be important in their adaptation to Korean society and their healthy lives. The purpose of this study is to present various implementation measures of church to resolve conflicts of foreign students studying in Korea based on the analysis of their interviews. Also, this study was conducted on foreign students studying in a university in Incheon from June to September 2019. The research participants included 2 Mongolian, 2 Chinese, and 2 Vietnamese of 1 male and 5 female college students, and this study was conducted through a phenomenological research method for exploring conflict experiences. As a result of analyzing the interview contents, 4 major topics as “chose Korea out of a sense of homogeneity but got discriminated,” “had a hard time living in Korea,” “experienced emotional changes due to social relations,”and“a change of attitude towards life” were identified and 8 collections of topic and 20 subtopics have been identified. First, for implementation measures of church based on the research results, churches need to play a role as a meeting place of Korean university students and foreign students studying in Korea. Secondly, churches need to put effort to improve prejudice against foreign students studying in Korea. Thirdly, the role of the church as a counseling center for resolving psychological and social conflicts of foreign student studying in Korea is needed. This study on implementation measures of church wishes to provide help in resolving psychological and social conflicts faced by foreign students studying in Korea and to help them to adjust their life in Korea. Moreover, this study expects foreign students studying in Korea who have experienced various kinds of help from this church to play a missionary role who conveys the love of Jesus after returning to their country.
