서번트 리더십 함양을 위한 기독교대학 리더십 캠프 사례연구－ 배재대학교 리더십 캠프를 중심으로

본 연구는 배재대학교 ｢청소년을 위한 리더십 캠프｣를 중심으로, 청소년과 대학생의 서번트 리더십 함양 효과를 분석한 질적 사례연구이다. 연구 방법으로는 캠프 문서 자료 분석, 만족도 조사, 참여자 9명의 심층 면접을 실시하여 캠프의 교육적 효과를 다각도로 탐색하였다. 분석 결과, 참여자들은 캠프를 통해 리더십을 ‘타인을 이끄는 전통적 개념’이 아닌 공감과 경청 그리고 섬김을 기반으로 한 서번트 리더십으로 재인식하였다. 특히 스탭과 멘토의 섬김, 조별 토론과 발표, 찬양과 파송식 등 경험 중심 프로그램이 높은 몰입과 만족도를 이끌어냈다. 또한 리더십 캠프는 신앙적 정체성과 역사적 이해를 증진시키는 데 기여하였다. 참여자들은 원데이 프로그램의 시간적 제약과 사후관리 등을 개선 과제로 지적하였다. 이에 본 연구의 참여자들은 서번트 리더십 교육의 효과성을 높이기 위해 정례적인 리더십 캠프 운영, 사후 모니터링 체계 구축, 지역사회봉사 연계 등을 제안하였다. 본 사례연구는 기독교 대학의 건학이념을 구현하는 비교과 교육 모델로서, 다음 세대가 공동체성과 섬김의 정신을 갖춘 리더로 성장하는데 리더십 캠프가 기여할 수 있음을 보여준다.
Abstract
This qualitative case study analyzes the effects of cultivating servant leadership among youth and university students, focusing on Baejae University's “Leadership Camp for Youth.” Research methods included analyzing camp documentation, conducting satisfaction surveys, and performing in-depth interviews with nine participants to explore the camp's educational effects from multiple angles. The analysis revealed that the participants redefined leadership through the camp by shifting from the traditional concept of leading others to a servant leadership model grounded in empathy, active listening, and service. Experience-based programs, such as staff and mentor service, group discussions and presentations, worship, and the commissioning ceremony, fostered high levels of immersion and satisfaction. Furthermore, the leadership camp contributed to enhancing participants’ faith identity and historical understanding. Participants suggested improving the program by addressing time constraints and implementing post-event follow-up. Accordingly, participants in this study proposed the following improvements: regular leadership camp operations, a post-event monitoring system, and linking community service. These improvements would enhance the effectiveness of servant leadership education. This case study demonstrates that the leadership camp can serve as a co-curricular educational model that embodies the founding principles of a Christian university. It can contribute to the growth of the next generation of leaders who are equipped with a spirit of community and service.
