학교 단위 연수의 영향 분석: 학업성취도 및 수업이해도를 중심으로

본 연구는 한국교육종단연구(Korean Education Longitudinal Study: KELS) 2013 자료를 사용하여 세 가지 유형의 학교 단위 연수 시행 시간과 중학교 학생의 학업성취도 및 수업이해도와의 관계를 분석하였다. 학교 단위 연수의 경우 KELS 2013 4차 학교 조사지에 포함 되어있는 학생 중심 교육과정 연수, 참여·활동 중심 교수 학습 방법 연수, 과정 중심 평가 방법 연수 시행 시간의 합을 활용하였으며 학업성취도는 KESL 5차 기초능력검사 수직척도점수를 활용하였다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 자료 수집 시점에서 약 90% 가까운 학교에서 학교 단위 연수를 시행하고 있었으며, 이는 그동안 정책적 관심을 고려할 때 고무적이었다. 다만, 세 가지 유형의 학교 단위 연수 모두 평균 약 10시간 미만으로 시행됨에 따라 학교 단위 연수는 대부분 일회성 혹은 단기간의 연수에 그친 것으로 보이며, 또한, 학교 단위 연수의 연간 총 연수 시간과 학생의 학업성취도 및 수업이해도 사이에서는 다른 변수를 통제하였음에도, 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 나타나지는 않았다. 본 연구는 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study utilized data from the Korean Educational Longitudinal Study (KELS) 2013 to analyze the relationship between school-based professional development and middle school students’ academic achievement and lesson comprehension in Korean, Math, and English. The findings indicated that almost 90% of schools implemented school-based professional development programs in 2016, which was encouraging given the policy emphasis on promoting school-based professional development. However, all three types of professional development were conducted for less than an average of 10 hours, and no statistically significant relationship was found between the total hours of these programs and students' academic achievement, after controlling for school and student background characteristics. Based on these findings, the study presents policy implications.
