마을교육활동가의 정체성 및 행위자성 형성에 관한 생애사 연구

본 연구의 목적은 마을교육활동가의 상황학습을 통해 구성되는 정체성과 행위자성에 대해 마을교육활동가의 생애사를 탐색하여 이들의 역량강화지원을 위한 논의를 확장시키는데 있다. 이를 위한 연구방법으로 Mandelbaum(1973)의 생애사 분석에 근거하여 ‘삶의 영역’,‘전환점’,‘적응’의 3개 영역으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 ‘삶의 영역(dimentions)’에서는 첫째, 어린시절 가정경제의 위기가 자립에 대한 정체성을 형성하는 계기가 되었고, 둘째, 청년기 조기취업에 따른 정체성을 탐색하였으며, 셋째, 가족에게 일어난 사건으로 정체성 혼돈의 시기를 넘겼고, 넷째, 가족을 위한 해결사 역할로 자신의 주체적 능력을 발견하였다. 이러한 주체적인 능력이 마을교육활동가가 행위자성을 갖게 된 원동력으로 작용하였다. ‘전환점(turnings)’ 영역에서는 먼저 개인적 요인으로 마을공동체와의 동화가 정체성 형성의 분기점이 되었으며, 준비된 마을교육활동가로서의 행위자성 발현요소로 나타났다. 사회적 요인으로는 마을과 사람을 그리고 사람과 사람을 연결시키는 매칭기술을 습득함으로써 자신의 위치를 찾는 전환점이 되었다. ‘적응(adaptations)’ 영역에서는 주변부 객체에서 완전한 주체로서 자기 주도적 실행공동체 활동, 자기 주도적 학습과정 참여와 참여 구성원들과의 다함께 성장하기, 전문가적인 실행공동체 네트워크에서의 학습을 기반으로 마을교육활동가로서의 정체성과 행위자성이 나타났다. 이러한 생애사 연구결과를 바탕으로 마을교육활동가의 지역교육혁신 및 발전의 성장지원을 위한 논의를 제시하였다.
Abstract
he purpose of this study is to explore the identity and agency of village education activists through situated learning and to expand discussions for supporting their capacity enhancement. The research method used for this study is based on Mandelbaum’s (1973) life history study, which analyzes three areas: ‘dimensions of life’, ‘turning points’, and ‘adaptations’. The analysis results in the ‘dimensions of life’ area are as follows: First, the economic crisis in the family during childhood served as a cause to form an identity of self-reliance. Second, early employment during youth led to the exploration of identity. Third, experiencing family adversity caused a period of identity confusion. Fourth, acting as family problem solver helped to discover her self-motivated behaviors, which acted as the driving force for village education activists to obtain agency. In the ‘turning points’ area: Personal conditions such as assimilation with the village community became a turning point in identity formation and the manifestation of agency as a prepared village education activist. Social conditions, such as acquiring matching skills to connect the village and people, and people with people, became a turning point in finding one’s position. In the ‘adaptations’ area: Being a complete subject from a peripheral object based on a self-directed community activities, participation in self-directed learning processes, growing together with participating members, and learning in professional community networks formed the basis for the identity and agency of village education activists. Through the results of this life history research, discussions for supporting the growth of village education activists in regional education innovation and development were presented.
