This study was to examine the effect of rubric on development in writing ability of university students. This study was carried for verifying whether the purpose of assessment is achieved when student use rubric as scale in writing class on educational environment is not objective assessment system now. The experiment of this study was progressed during semester. First the pretest about writing ability of two group was performed and was offered rubric four times to experimental group and not offered to control group. Finally, to examine the effects of treatment, statistical analysis was carried. The result from this study is rubric that suggest detailed criteria and level have positive effect on development in writing ability of university students. This display result of this experiment coincide result of existing study that rubric have positive effect on improvement in performance ability of student. Therefore, on the basis of the result from this study, development of rubric that increase writing ability of student is needed. (Yonsei University)
