박인환 시에 나타난 ‘불안한 파장(波長)’ 연구-‘파동적(波動的) 이미지’를 중심으로

박인환의 시에서 ‘문명’은 ‘전란’ 체험을 형상화하는 주요 제재이다. 그의 시는 문명적인 것과 전쟁 징후적인 것이 결합된 이미지를 통하여, 전란의 공포와 미래에 대한 전망을 형상화하고 있다. 이러한 사례로는,「검은 강」,「신호탄」,「무도회」,「잠을 이루지 못하는 밤」,「불행한 신」,「식민항의 밤」등을 들 수 있다. 그의 시는 ‘열차’, ‘전주’, ‘파장’, ‘신호탄’ 등의 제재의 특성으로부터, 그 자신이 처한 전란 전후前後의 불안의식을 형상화하고 있다. 그는, ‘광장의 전주’와 ‘내 귀에 울려오는 폭풍’ 등을 통하여, 전쟁의 공포와 불안 그리고 미래에 대한 비관적 전망을 나타낸다. 그는 당면한 현실과 자신의 내면을 문명제재의 ‘파장’ 혹은 그것의 시각적 특징인 ‘파동적 이미지’로서 그려내었다. 6.25전쟁을 전후로 한 당대 현실에서 미래에의 기대와 불안, 전쟁에의 공포와 절망 등이, ‘포물선’, ‘외접선’, ‘궤도’, ‘폭풍’ ‘치솟음과 추락’, ‘기울어짐’, ‘쓰러짐’ 등의 다양한 ‘파동적 이미지’로 그려지고 있다. 6.25 전란 이전 시편들에서는, ‘열차’와 같은 기계문명의 역동성을 중심으로 미래에 대한 기대와 전운(戰運)의 불안이 교차하는 내면을 ‘파동적’ 이미지로서 보여준다. 6.25 전란을 겪으면서 그의 시는, ‘폭음’, ‘내귀의 폭풍’, ‘신호탄’, ‘피묻은 전주’ 등, ‘청각적 파장’을 동반한 ‘파동적 이미지’로서 전쟁의 폭력성과 인간세계의 비극상을 보여준다. 그리고 이후에 그의 죽음이 임박한 시기에, 그의 시는 주로, ‘환각’, ‘환청’, ‘숙취’ 모티브와 관련한 ‘파동적 이미지’로서 미래에 대한 ‘페시미즘’을 보여준다. 그럼에도 그는, 어떠한 상황에서도, ‘시’가 인간 가치의 표지이자 ‘미래’를 견인하는 내재적 힘이라고 믿었으며 자신의 최후까지 ‘시’를 써나갔다. 문명의 제재들을 통하여 구체화된 “불안한 파장”과 그 ‘파동적 이미지들’은 전란의 전후 시기에 인간내면의 극과 극을 오가는 장면을 치열하게 드러내고 있으며 인간이 소중히 지녀야 할 것들과 시에 대한 그의 열정을 뚜렷하게 보여준다.
Abstract
‘Civilization’ is the main topic of embodying the 'suffering from war' in Park In Hwan's poetry. He expressed fears of war and prospects of the future by the combined image of civilization and sign of war. For examples, 「a black river」, 「a flare」, 「a dancing party」, 「sleepless nights」, 「unhappy god」, 「nights of colony」 are those poetry. His anxiety consciousness after the war suffering is crystallized in poetry by the characteristics of 'trains', 'telegraph pole', 'wavelength' and 'a flare'. He expressed fears of war, anxieties and pessimistic prospects about the future through 'telegraph pole in a square', 'a storm ringing to my ears' and etc. He also expressed his present reality and inner side thought by the 'wavelength' of civilization or fluctuating images of that. The expectation and anxiety to the future, the fear and despair of war in the reality of 1950s, before and after the Korean war, are expressed as 'arc', 'external tangent', 'orbit', 'storm', 'up rush and crash', 'slopingness' and 'collapses' by diverse 'fluctuating images'. Before the Korean war(6․25), there are fluctuating images that show inner side anxiety and expectation to the future by dynamic machineries such as 'train' in his poetry. Experiencing the Korean war, he described the violence of war and human tragedy by 'fluctuating images' accompanying 'acoustic wavelength' by 'death', 'a storm in my ears', 'a flare' and 'bloodstained telegraph pole'. Around the corner of his death, he expressed 'pessimism' by the 'fluctuating images' that are connected with the themes of the 'illusion', 'hallucination' and 'hangover'. Nevertheless, he continued creating 'poetry' at the last time of his life believing that 'poetry' is not only the mark of human value but also the inherent power to lead the future. The 'anxious wavelength' and 'fluctuating images' of that show fiercely the extremes of human inner side feeling after war by topics of civilization, and those also show clearly his passion for poetry and human valuables.
