최현배 『우리말본』의 「소리갈」 성립 과정 -‘낱소리’를 중심으로-

본 연구에서는 현존하는 「소리갈」의 이본 5종을 대조하여 외솔의 『우리말본』에서 「소리갈」, 특히 홀소리와 닿소리에 관한 논의가 성립되는 과정을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 「소리갈」에서 ‘낱소리’의 목차 구성은 『우리말본 첫재매』까지 내용상 크게 홑소리(홑홀소리, 홑닿소리)와 거듭소리(거듭홀소리, 거듭닿소리)로 구분되었지만, 『우리말본』(1937)부터는 홀소리(홑홀소리, 거듭홀소리)와 닿소리(홑닿소리, 거듭닿소리)로 나뉘게 된다. ‘낱소리’의 내용 가운데, 먼저 홀소리의 경우, 홑홀소리 목록은 유인본인 『우리말본 상』 이후에 ‘ㅢ’가 제외되는 변화를 겪으며 ‘ㅏㅓㅗㅜㅡㅣㅐㅔㅚ’로 정립되었으며, 거듭홀소리에 대한 서술상의 보완은 『우리말본』(1937)에서 이루어진다. 닿소리의 경우에는 이전까지 짝거듭닿소리로 분류되던 ‘ㄲㄸㅃㅆㅉ’이 『우리말본』(1937)에서 홑닿소리로 분류됨에 따라 홑닿소리와 거듭닿소리의 목록이 정립되었으며, 이에 따르는 내용과 용어의 수정이 이루어졌다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare 5 different versions of Sorigal in order to investigate the process of establishment the contents of vowels and consonants in Sorigal compiled by Choe Hyeonbae. There are differences in the structure of the table of contents between Urimalbon Cheotjaemae and the 1937 edition Urimalbon. Up until Urimalbon Cheotjaemae, the contents of 'vowels and consonants' were divided into single sound and double sound, but from the Urimalbon, they were divided into vowel and consonant. Changes in content are confirmed in both the consonant list and the vowel list. The list of single vowels was fixed after undergoing a change in which ‘ㅢ’ was omitted, and descriptive supplementation for compound vowels was made in the 1937 edition Urimalbon. In the case of consonants, ‘ㄲㄸㅃㅆㅉ’, which had been classified as double consonants before, were classified as single consonants in the 1937 edition Urimalbon, and the list of single consonants and double consonants were settled.
