가능 세계 구성을 통한 소설교육 연구 -한강의《채식주의자》를 중심으로-

소설의 독자는 소설 세계에 주목한 읽기를 행한다. 이때 독자는 자기의 현실 세계 규범을 바탕으로, 낯선 소설 세계에 대해 ‘있을 법한 세계’로 이해를 시도한다. 이는 소설 세계 내의 기호와 독자의 세계 체계를 대조하는 과정에서 이루어지며, 본 연구는 이러한 세계 간 상호 조회적 읽기를 가능 세계 구성으로 정의한다. 소설 세계는 허구가 이야기적 질서를 이룬 상태이다. 이러한 세계는 이미 존재하고 있는 실체는 아니겠으나, 어떠한 특정한 계기를 통해, 특정한 진술로서 실현된 구성체이다. 소설 세계는 개연성을 갖추었기에 현실 세계에 존재하지 않음에도, 현실 세계와 대등한 위상을 갖는다. 따라서 자율적인 세계 이해 도식으로 구성되는 가능 세계에 주목하는 것은, 독자가 소설을 해석하기 위해 마련하는 다양한 계기를 포착하는 것과 같다. 이를 정교화하면, 문학 교실에서 학습자를 위해 제공할 수 있는 소설 읽기 원리로 적용될 수 있다. 본 연구는 한강의 《채식주의자》를 예시로 하여, 문학 교실의 학습자를 위한 가능 세계 구성의 구체적인 방법을 마련하고자 한다. 이는 세계 공간, 세계 주체, 세계 담론의 측면에서 이루어지는 절차적 수행으로서 제시된다.
Abstract
The reader of the novel makes a reading that focuses on the world of novel. Based on the norms of the real world, the reader understands the unfamiliar novel world as a space to experience. This is done in the process of inquiring about the symbols of the novel text and the norms of the actual world, which this study defines as the composition of the possible world. The novel world is in a state of narrative order. This world may not be an existing entity, but it is a construct realized as a specific statement through some specific opportunity. Although the novel world does not exist in the real world because it has probability, it has an equal status with the real world. Therefore, paying attention to the possible world before the novel world that exists in an autonomous world schematic was constructed can be a major reading methodology for readers to prepare various opportunities to interpret novels. Using Han Kang's "Vegetarian" as an example, this study presents a method of constructing a possible world that can be applied for learners in literature classrooms. This is presented as a procedural performance in terms of world space, world subject, and world discourse.
