학부 유학생을 위한 상호문화교육 방안 연구 - 웹툰 「정년이」 속 설화를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 학부 유학생을 위한 상호문화 교육의 필요성을 제기하며, 오랜 역사적 배경 속에서 형성된 문화를 담고 있는 설화를 활용하여 상호문화교육 방안을 제안하였다. 설화는 한 나라의 문화를 총체적으로 담고 있는 교육자료이기 때문에 작품을 읽으면서 해당 문화의 지식과 문화 정체성을 학습할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 다만, 외국인이라는 학습자 특성상 한국어를 이해하여 문학적 상상력을 발휘하는 것에 제약이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위한 교육 매체로 웹툰을 활용하여 상호문화교육 방안을 구성하였다. 교육자료로 선정한 웹툰 정년이는 설화 기반 국극 공연을 소재로 이야기가 진행되기 때문에 학부 유학생들은 학습의 연속성을 가지고 수업을 들을 수 있으며, 맥락이 있는 자료를 통해 설화의 전체적인 내용을 이해할 수 있다. 또한 작품을 공시적, 통시적으로 관찰하고 목표 문화를 넓은 관점에서 살펴보며 자문화를 발견하고 타문화를 내면화하여 지식, 기술, 태도 측면에서 상호문화 능력을 형성할 수 있다. 이에 본고에서 사용한 교수법은 내용 중심 교수법이며, 웹툰 속 상호문화적 요소를 나누어 상호문화 능력 함양을 위한 교육 내용을 선별하였다. 그 후 내용 중심 상호문화교육 모형을 구성하여 교수-학습 설계안과 수업계획안을 제시하였다. 본고에서 제안한 상호문화교육 방안은 학부 유학생들의 상호문화 능력향상을 목표로 설계하였다. 이를 통해 한국 유학 생활에 적응할 수 있도록 도와 성공적으로 학업을 수행하며, 문화 간 의사소통 능력을 지닌 사회 구성원으로 성장하는 데 기여할 것이다.
Abstract
This study raises the need for intercultural education for foreign undergraduates and proposes a method of intercultural education through folk tales, which are literary works that encapsulate the culture that has been shaped over a long period of time. Since a folk tale is an educational material that contains the whole culture of a country, it provides an opportunity to learn the knowledge and identity of the culture. However, foreigners have their limits in understanding the Korean language and exercising literary imagination. To solve this problem, we organized an intercultural education plan to utilize webtoons as an educational media. The webtoon Jeongnyeoni, which was selected as the educational material, is a story based on Korean theater performances, so foreign undergraduates can take classes with continuity of learning and understand the overall story through contextualized materials. In addition, they can develop intercultural skills in terms of knowledge, skill, and attitude by observing works synchronically and diachronically, and seeing the target culture from a broad perspective while discovering their own cultures in it and internalizing it. Therefore, the teaching method used in this paper is content-centered teaching, and the intercultural elements in the webtoon were extracted to create educational contents for improving intercultural skills. After that, a content-centered intercultural education model was constructed and a teaching-learning plan and a lesson plan were presented. The proposed intercultural education method will help foreign undergraduates to improve their intercultural skills, thereby contributing to their adaptation to life in Korea and, by extension, to their successful academic performance and their growing into a member of society equipped with good intercultural skills.
