『한성주보』의 국문체, 국한문체 기사 연구 -텍스트종류론적 관점에서-

Abstract

Hansungjubo is a historically meaningful research topic and important in Korean studies because it was the first newspaper written in Korean and Korean-Chinese styles. Nonetheless, only a few studies have been conducted on the style of writing in Hansungjubo because the newspaper written in Korean and Korean-Chinese styles accounted for a small portion of news media. And only a year after that, the newspaper got back to the original style, which was written in the Chinese style. This has something to do with characteristics in production and acceptance of the text. Feature stories were written in a relatively new style, while straight news, especially straight news were not written in the new style (the Korean and Korean-Chinese style). None of editorial was written in the Korean and Korean-Chinese styles at the same time, because people thought it was not necessary to write Korean unless they should use their mother tongue and that the Korean and Korean-Chinese style was less efficient than Chinese style. Poor understanding of the Korean style and negligence of it also mattered in this picture, so some news producers tried to investigate how to make a standard format of the news articles according to the Korean style, but their efforts ended up in failure. Yet articles written both in the Korean and Korean-Chinese styles had an effect on news headlines and contributed to the emergence of private newspapers including independent newspaper.
