초록
This study explores the role of viewpoint in the semantics of Russian prefixed verbs of motion. While extensive research has been conducted on the spatial meanings of these verbs, the influence of viewpoint remains underexplored. Viewpoint, as a conceptual factor, significantly affects the lexical choices in motion verbs and the overall meaning of an utterance. By examining examples from the Russian National Corpus, this research illustrates how prefixes indicating SOURCE and GOAL reflect the speaker's perspective within a motion event. This paper argues that understanding the semantics of prefixed motion verbs necessitates acknowledging how prefixes contribute to establishing the viewpoint and the overall spatial schema. The findings highlight the importance of considering viewpoint for a comprehensive understanding of Russian motion verbs, with potential applications in language teaching.
