초록

The Russian verb 'idti' and the Korean verbs 'kada' and 'oda' ('go' and 'come' respectively) share a foundational semantic domain of locomotion. However, there are significant linguistic differences between the two language systems. In Russian, 'idti' functions as an indicator of the Manner of motion, encapsulating both the starting point (Source) and the destination (Goal). Conversely, in Korean, these lexical items denote spatial orientation from the perspective of the speaker. This linguistic variance introduces complexity into the acquisition and interpretation of abstract meanings. The Korean verb 'kada' undergoes semantic expansion of its meaning from spatial changes to temporal and state changes, grounded in the cognitive metaphor [Change is motion]. The categorical shifts encompass creation, continuation, arrival, and loss of states. Through the analysis of linguistic corpora, three hypotheses were investigated by comparing the generalized verb 'idti' with 'kada'. Firstly, the constructions of 'idti' encompass temporal and abstract usages originating from spatial alterations. Secondly, the predominant connotation of progression associated with 'idti' anticipates its active usages within the domain of continuity. Lastly, the pragmatic utilization of the generalized verb demonstrates deixis, employing verbs such as 'kada' or 'oda' depending on the semantic context.
