Abstract
On the Manchu text of the Treaty NerchinskCHOI Hyong-WonThe Treaty of Nerchinsk was the first attempt made by China and Russia to reach an agreement on a demarcation of their mutual spheres of control, which had been separated by multitude of tribes, most of them non-sedentary, as late as at the end of the 16th and in the early 17th century.Text of the Treaty was written in 3 languages: Manchu, Russian and Latin. According to German Manchurist W. Fuchs the basic version of the treaty-text was the Manchu, the official affixed version was the Latin. It thus is important the Manchu text is to be studied.
