≪捷解蒙語≫와 滿洲語 資料의 關係

Abstract

This paper discusses the contents of a Mongolian textbook Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ, published in Chosŏn Sayǒgwǒn (朝鮮司譯院) in the 18th century. A previously conducted research pointed out that Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ contains many unnatural Mongolian since Korean translators in Sayǒgwǒn (so-called Yǒkgwan (譯官)) originally wrote Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ. Thus they concluded that no original texts in Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ exist. Against these claims, this paper will demonstrate that the contents of Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ partially corresponds to Manchu textbooks Qing wen qi meng (淸文啓蒙) and Qing shu zhi nan (淸書指南) published in China in the 17th to 18th centuries. Furthermore, its correspondence of Mongolian to Manchu is almost one-to-one, and its corresponding points cover about three fourths of Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ. In regard to this point, unnatural Mongolian, mentioned above, would be illustrated by the fact that they are almost due to the literal translation from Manchu. However, this paper does not conclude that Qing wen qi meng and Qing shu zhi nan are original texts of Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ since one quarter of Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ might be a translation from Chinese or other Manchu literatures. Moreover, it is probable that other Manchu literature might be utilized as original text as well. So I will propose that such Manchu literatures were involved in the editing of Ch’ǒphae Mong at the very least. In any case, we must reconsider whether such Mongolian reflected in Ch’ǒphae Mongǒ is actually used by one in that time period or not.
