초등 도덕과 교과용 도서개발을 위한 도덕성 · 인격의 구성 요소와 교육내용 탐구 방안

초록

도덕교육에 있어 중요한 문제 중의 하나는 그것을 통해 기르고자 하는 것이 무엇인지를 온당하고도 명료하게 설정하고 교육을 수행해 가는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 이는 특히 도덕과 교과용 도서를 개발함에 있어서는 더더욱 긴요한 일이 된다. 여기서는 바로 이러한 문제의식에서 도덕교육을 통해 기르고자 하는 것으로서의 도덕성 내지 인격의 의미와 그 구성 요소들을 생각해 보고, 그것들을 기르기 위해 가르치고 배워야 할 것들로서의 교육내용의 설정 문제와 그것들을 담아낼 교과용 도서 개발에의 시사점 등을 숙고해 보았다. 좀 더 구체적으로 말한다면, 이 연구에서는 아리스토텔레스의 인간 정신에 대한 분석과 덕론에 기반하여 도덕교육을 통해 길러야 할 도덕성 내지 유덕한 인격이 최소한 세 측면 여섯 요소들로 구성되고 이것들이 다시 좀 더 세분화된 하위 도덕적 성향 · 능력 요소들로 설정될 수 있음을 밝혔다. 그리고 이러한 틀에 입각하여 그것들을 기르기 위해 학생들이 배우고 익혀야 할 교육내용들이 어떻게 추출될 수 있는지, 또한 그러한 교육내용들을 적절한 방법 · 활동, 수업과정, 자료들과 엮어서 어떻게 초등 도덕과 교과용 도서에 담아낼 수 있는지 등에 대해서도 탐구해 보았다.

Abstract

If we want to carry out moral education properly, it is very important to have the right targets that we should aim while doing moral learning-teaching in schools. But, actually until nowadays, because we haven`t had any appropriate answers about that problem, I tried to inquire the meaning and elements of morality/character in this study. If saying more concretely, on the basis of Aristotle`s theory of virtue and character, I identified three sides and six elements of morality/character. One is the cognitive side and that has two elements: moral knowledge-understanding and moral thinking-judgement abilities. Another side is related to the emotion and will of soul, that has moral feeling-emotion and moral passion-will. And, the last part is related to the human actions, that has moral behavior skills-capacities and moral practices-habits. Of course, these elements have their sub-elements, for example, the moral thinking abilities are constructed by such elements as reflective thinking, critical thinking, creative thinking, empathic-caring thinking and dialogical-discourse ethics thinking. This frame of three sides and six elements can be the basis for selecting-organizing the contents and making the textbook of elementary moral education in schools. In addition to the above-mentioned, in this paper I inquired and illustrated how we can construct and organize the contents and how we are able to construct the unit of moral education textbook.
