이 글은 프랑크프루트학파의 ‘사회비판이론’의 주요 이념과 개념, 핵심 논지와 이론적 지향점 등을 살펴보고, 그 가운데 ‘도덕교육’의 질적 제고에 기여할 수 있는 유의미한 지침과 시사점 등이 무엇인지에 관해 비판적으로 검토해 보는데 주력해 보았다. 그러한 비판적 검토를 통해 확인된 몇 가지 지침과 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비판 이념의 도덕교육에의 도입 및 적극 활용, 둘째, 의사소통 관계에 기초한 교사/학생 관계의 수립 필요성. 셋째, 대화를 통한 문제해결 원칙의 비판적 수용, 넷째, 도덕적 분노와 그에 기초한 정당한 사회적 투쟁 개념의 수용, 다섯째, 가치중립성과 그에 기초한 실증주의적 사유방식의 허구성 비판 등이다. 이어 이 글은 사회비판이론의 관점에서, 현 한국사회의 도덕교육의 한계와 문제점을 대략적이나마 몇 가지 지적해 보고, 그것의 해결 혹은 보완 방안에 관해 단초적(端初的) 수준에서 짧게나마 그 방향성을 언급해 보고자 했다. 보완 내지 해결되어야 할 문제점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비판 이념의 중요성 간과(看過), 둘째, 사회의 부도덕성에 대한 사회비판 교육의 부족, 셋째, 도덕적 분노와 정당한 사회적 투쟁에 관한 부정적 거부감의 잔존, 넷째, 허구적 가치중립성 입장의 고수 등이다.
Abstract
In this paper, I look into the main ideas and concepts, the essential points of an argument and the theoretical orientations of the Critical Theory of Society, and among them I devote myself to investigating critically the meaningful guidelines and implications to contribute to the qualitative improvement of the moral education. A few guidelines and implications confirmed by means of such a critical examination are as follows: Firstly, the introduction of an idea of critique into the moral education and its active application; secondly, the necessity of the establishment of teacher/student relation based on communicative relation; thirdly, the critical acceptance of problem-solving principle through dialogue; fourthly, the embracement of moral anger and a concept of the just social struggle based on it; lastly, the critique on the value-neutrality and the fictiveness of the positivistic way of thinking based on it. Subsequently, I point out approximately the problems and limits of the present Korean moral education from the viewpoint of Critical Theory of Society. Then, I present shortly the direction about the solution or the way of supplement of those problems and limits on the level of clues. Some problems which should be solved or supplemented are as follows: Firstly, the overlook on the importance of an idea of critique; secondly, the deficiency of society-critique education about the immorality of society; thirdly, the survival of negative repulsion over the moral anger and the just social struggle; lastly, the adherence to the position with fictional value-neutrality.
