초등 도덕과 통일교육에서 다문화교육적 접근의 가능성

본 연구는 다문화 시대에 즈음하여 통일교육의 새로운 활로를 모색할 목적으로 다문화교육과의 접목을 시도한 것이다. 최근 통일교육은 현 정부의 대북 강경정책으로 인한 남북 경색 국면의 장기화, 통일교육 연구의 감소, 개정 교육과정 내용 요소 면에서의 퇴보 등으로 새로운 국면을 맞고 있다. 이로 인해 초등학교 도덕과 통일교육에 대한 관심과 교육활동도 어려움을 겪고 있다. 초등 도덕과 통일교육의 새로운 전환을 모색하기 위해서는 최근 연구가 증대되고 있는 다문화교육적 접근과의 유기적 관계를 검토해 보는 것이 유용하다. 초등 도덕과 통일교육에서 다문화교육적 접근은 북한 사회에 대한 객관적 이해, 문화적 다양성 함양, 민족 정체성 형성 등의 문제를 ‘다문화’와의 관련성 속에서 확장하여 고려해 볼 수 있는 새로운 연결 고리가 될 수 있다. 결국 초등 도덕과 통일교육에서 다문화교육적 접근은 북한이탈주민의 다문화교육 대상 범주 설정, 통일․다문화 교육과정 통합 노력 및 국가공동체 개념으로의 전환을 통해 새로운 활로를 모색할 수 있는 가능성을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 본다.
Abstract
This study would attempt to incorporate multicultural education for seek a new bow of unification education in multicultural age. Recently the unification education is facing a new aspect of affairs on three points: (1) prolonged of north and south Korea's infarction aspects by current government, (2) decreased of unification education's study, (3) degenerated in terms of content elements of Revised Curriculum. It will be useful to review potential organic relations between unification education in elementary moral education and multicultural educational approaches. The multicultural educational approaches of unification education in the elementary moral education will offer new links to expand and consider such issues as an objective understanding of North Korean society, enhancement of cultural diversity, and building of national identity. Thus taking multicultural educational approaches towards unification education in elementary moral education will open new possibilities by setting the scope of North Korean defectors to receive multicultural education, making inclusive effortsn the unification and multicultural curriculum, and transition to the concept of national community.
