영국의 인성교육 동향과 시사점

초록

본 연구는 영국에서 실행되고 있는 인성교육의 특징과 동향을 분석하여 우리나라 인성교육에 대한 시사점을 찾고자 한다. 영국 인성교육에 초점을 두는 이유는 현재 우리사회가 겪고 있는 다문화 사회로의 전환에서 나타나는 계층 간의 충돌, 학교폭력 등의 문제를 우리보다 앞서 경험한 영국의 인성교육을 통해 이에 대처하는 사례에서 교훈을 얻을 수 있기 때문이다. 연구자는 다음과 같은 과업을 수행한다. 첫째, 영국 인성교육의 역사를 간략히 정리한다. 둘째, 영국 인성교육의 특징과 동향을 분석한다. 셋째, 영국에서 실시한 인성교육의 성과와 향후 과제를 분석한다. 넷째, 영국 인성교육의 특징을 통해 우리나라의 인성교육에 적용할 수 있는 시사점을 도출한다.

Abstract

Character education is essential to enhance the sustainability of our society. Therefore, unlike in the past, parents should actively intervene in schools and societies, not only at home. Character education to be successful, it is required that the plan, the implementation, and the evaluation be approached from a comprehensive viewpoint. In this regard, this study analyzed the flow and evaluation of character education in the UK. The recent strengthening of British character education started with the social problem of the London riots. In order to promote effective character education, we confirmed that the Jubilee Center is supporting various research and character education materials nationwide. The results of the research on the effects of character education showed that teachers and schools were the main influential factors in the success of character education and that the moral education cooperating with moral judgment was necessary for successful character education. In order to develop character education, it was confirmed that it is essential to elaborate character education regarding life development and to develop appropriate evaluation tools.
