초록
미디어 교육과 미디어 리터러시 교육을 거쳐 미디어 정보 리터러시 교육이 국제적 공식 용어로 정착되고 있다. 미디어 정보 리터러시(MIL) 교육을 위해서는 기술, 비판, 창조, 윤리라는 4대 영역의 역량을 고르게 발전시키는 것이 중요하다. 미디어를 활용하는 기술이나 미디어 환경 그 자체에 대한 교육 보다는 미디어 발전과 융합에 따른 참여적 문화를 교육하는 일이 더 필요하다. 이것이 곧 새로운 MIL의 재개념화다. 보호주의적 관점을 넘어서 책임있는 정보 사용자인 동시에 적극적인 정보 생산자를 길러내야 한다. 개인의 역량강화를 강조하는 MIL 교육의 완성형은 공적인 사안에 관심을 갖고 적극적으로 참여하면서 신중하고 책임있는 태도를 갖춘 도덕적인 디지털 시민성을 교육하는 일로 수렴될 수 있다.
Abstract
Through media education and media literacy education, ‘media information literacy’(MIL) education is being established as an international official term. For MIL education, it is important to develop competencies in the major four areas of technology, criticism, creativity, and ethics in a balanced way. It is more necessary to educate the participatory culture according to the development and convergence of media than to educate the technology to access and utilize media or to educate the media environment itself. This is the reconceptualization of the new MIL. We need to go beyond paternalistic perspectives and cultivate people who use media and information responsibly while actively producing them. The completion of MIL education emphasizing individual empowerment can be converged with education on moral digital citizenship with a careful and responsible attitude while taking an active interest in and participating in public affairs.
