본 연구는 혈우병 아동 자녀를 둔 한 어머니의 양육 경험의 의미를 탐구하기 위한 것이다. 연구참여자는 초등학교 4학년 혈우병 자녀를 둔 어머니 이은솔(가명)이며, 자료수집 기간은 2022년 4월부터 8월까지이다. 수집된 자료는 시간성, 사회성, 장소를 고려하여 3차원적 내러티브 탐구 공간에서 분석하였고, 연구결과 이은솔의 내러티브를 ‘아들의 병이 비밀이 된 엄마’, ‘죄책감이 낳은 모순적 양육’. ‘자가 주사로 인정하게 된 혈우병’, ‘책을 통해 깨달은 진정한 어머니상’으로 의미화하여 재구성하였다. 이은솔에게 ‘진정한 엄마되기’는 모계유전 질환이라는 이유로 뒤엉켜있던 모자 관계를 깨닫게 되면서, 아들을 분리해서 바라볼 수 있으며, 분리된 엄마로서 아들에게 필요한 것을 아들의 입장에서 이해하며 아들에게 도움을 줄 수 있는 엄마로 당당하게 자신의 삶을 살아가는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구참여자의 이야기가 혈우병 자녀를 둔 어머니들과의 심리상담이나 독서치료 현장에서 그들을 지원하는 데 활용되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning of the parenting experience of a mother who has a child with hemophilia. he pseudonym of the mother is Eunsol Lee. She is the research participant is and mother of a forth-grade elementary school child with hemophilia. The data collection period was from April to August 2022. The collected data were analyzed in a three-dimensional narrative exploration space considered temporality and sociality. As a result of the study, Eunsol Lee’s narrative was recognized as ‘a mother whose son’s disease became a secret’, ‘contradictory parenting caused by guilt’, ‘hemophilia cased by hemophilia’ and ‘real mother figure realized through a book’. For Eunsol Lee, ‘becoming a true mother’ is a maternal genetic disease if one can understand the intertwined mother-child relationship. Upon this acknowledgment, a mother can begin to look at the son as a separate person from the mother. She can help the son by understanding what the son needs from the son’s point of view. This perspective allows a mother to live proudly as a mother. It is expected that the stories of the participants in this study will be used to support them through psychological counseling or reading therapy with mothers of children with hemophilia.
