통합반 비장애아의 장애인식 변화를 위한 그림책 독서치료 실행연구

초록

본 연구는 국공립 어린이집 만4세 통합반 비장애아들의 독서치료를 통한 긍정적 장애인식의 형성 과정과 변화를 탐색한 실행연구이다. 그림책 독서치료 실행연구는 2주간의 예비연구를 통해 수정․보완된 다양한 장애 유형의 장애인식 개선을 돕는 내용의 그림책을 8명의 비장애아들에게 Kemmis와 McTaggart (2000)의 계획→실행→관찰→반성의 순환모델에 따라 14주 동안 1-3차까지의 나선형의 순환적 실행과정으로 독서, 독서치료적 발문, 회기별 주제에 대한 인식과 학습 강화를 위한 다양한 관련 활동으로 진행되었다. 다각검증을 위한 자료수집과 자료분석을 위한 연구방법으로는 연구자의 참여관찰(통합어린이집 원장)과 보조연구자(학급담임)의 지원적 협력을 통한 녹화, 전사, 면담, 현장노트, 관찰일지, 보조적 진단검사 등이 실행되었다. 연구결과, 비장애아의 장애인식은 장애에 대한 판단, 관심, 능력, 장애용품, 장애의 원인 등의 하위범주별 긍정적 인식변화의 회기별 예화 출현빈도(706회)와 해당 범주의 구체적 예화 등을 통해 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 또한, 비장애아들의 장애에 대한 긍정적 태도와 행동의 하위범주에는 공감, 배려, 경청, 모방, 문제해결, 존중, 우정, 시범의 변화가 실행연구 전반기와 비교하면 후반기에 눈에 띄게 증가한 것이 1,036회의 출현빈도와 예화들을 통해 드러났다. 반면, 장애에 대한 부정적 인식과 태도는 장애인식에 대한 미숙과 부정적 인식과 장애에 대한 두려움, 훼방, 놀림 등의 행동과 태도가 후반부에 상대적으로 감소하게 되는 과정을 잘 드러내고 있다. 본 연구는 유아 대리양육기관에서의 그림책 독서치료를 통해 비장애아의 긍정적 장애인식 향상을 위한 기초자료를 마련했다는 점, 장애아 통합교실, 통합기관, 그리고 일반학급 내에서의 장애에 대한 인식개선을 위한 현장사례에 대한 기초자료 제공, 후속연구, 교육/보육정책의 지원체계 등 인생 초기의 장애인식 개선을 위한 학문적, 실천적 시사점을 분명히 드러내고 있다.

Abstract

This study reports action research that explored eight 4-year-olds’ positive changes in disability awareness through picture book bibliotherapy during 12 sessions in an integrated day-care classroom. Based on the action research model of Kemmis and McTaggart (2000), three cycles of action research were implemented in a spiral structure with therapeutic picture books on diverse topics of disabilities. Weekly reading and related post reading activities with guessing games with rewards, drawing, role-play, and singing were implemented to reinforce the weekly themes. Data were collected through the researcher’s participant observations, videotaping, interviews, field notes, and research journals, as well as the cooperations of classroom teachers’ Weekly discussions and evaluations with the assistant researchers were held after every session. The First outstanding finding is that the basic cycles of plan→execution→observation→reflection occurred three times in a spiral for both participants and reserachers, resulting in better execution of the picturebook bibliotherapy outputs. Second, non-disabled children's postive disability awareness increased dramatically in the detailed areas of disability judgment, interest in disability, disability ability, and disability cause and products. While negative awareness and misunderstandings of disability decreased. This study indicates the effectiveness of action research using picture book bibliotherapy in improving positve disability awareness with diverse disability themes through the use of therapeutic picture books in integrated classes. Further research is needed including a broader range of ages (e.g., 2-, 3-, and 5-year-olds), non-integrated classrooms for better understanding of disability awareness, and guidebook publications for teachers to support young children in gaining a better understanding of disabilities.
