Abstract
This study developed and applied a bibliotherapy program based on the myth of Psyche and Eros to support the psychological growth of four middle-aged women. Grounded in Jungian analytical psychology and utilizing Robert A. Johnson’s book She, the program guided the participants through structured readings and reflections on the themes of discernment, inner strength, life perspective, and creative refusal. Through qualitative analysis of post-program interviews, six core themes of the participants’ experiences were identified: “Discovering Myself in Myth,” “Listening to the Inner Voice,” “The Spectrum of Insight,” “A Journey Made Possible Together,” “The Joy of Healing that Awakens the Senses,” and “Reborn Like Psyche: My Own Story.” This study provides an in-depth understanding of how myth-based bibliotherapy can facilitate self-discovery and the creation of new life narratives for women in midlife. The study concludes with a discussion of its limitations and suggestions for future research.
