이 논문은 그동안 상대적으로 본격적인 논의가 이루어지지 않은 백석의 기행시편에 대해 살펴보았다. 백석의 시세계의 지향점을 ‘돌아가고 회복하고자 하는 동화적이고 평화로운 이상공간의 추구’로 전제하고 그의 작품 95편 가운데 28편에 달하는 기행시편의 위치를 매김하였다. 『사슴』시편들을 ‘이상적 공동체공간으로서의 始原의 북방마을 재구와 회복노력’으로, 만주 유랑기의 실의와 체념의 미학을 발휘한 시편들을 ‘시원의 북방을 회복하려는 노력의 좌절과 이로 인한 유랑과 체념’으로 각각 보았다. 그리고 기행시편을 그 중간 단계인 ‘이상과 현실의 괴리 속에서 이상공간으로서의 북방을 모색하기 위한 여행’시편들로 본 것이다. 그 다음 기행시편들을 경상남도 남해안 바다→북관→관서로 이어지는 기행로에 따라 ‘남행시초’, ‘북관기행시편’ 및 ‘관서기행시편’으로 구분하고 고찰하였다. 각각의 작품의 살펴보는 동시에 기행지에 따라 나타나는 시인의 내면과 기행시편들의 특성을 보다 세밀하게 규명하였다.
Abstract
In this dissertation we examined Baek Suk's travel poetries which had relatively not been mainly discussed so far. We have premised the aim of Baek Suk's poetic world on 'pursuing the fairy-tale-like and peaceful ideal-space to return and recover' and positioned his 28 pieces of travel poetries among the 95 pieces of his entire works. Deer was considered as the 'effort to recover and rebuild the original northern village in order to make it an ideal community-space', and other poetries showing the aesthetics of abandonment and despair during their vagrancy in Manchuria were considered as the 'wandering and abandonment due to the frustrated effort to recover the original northern area. And so the travel poetries placed in-between the above two kinds were considered 'a journey groping for the northern area as an ideal space within the gap of ideal and reality'. Then the rest of the travel poetries were classified as 'Namhaengsicho', 'Travel poetries Bookkwan', and 'Travel poetries of Kwanseo', and examined them according to their path from southern sea in Kyungsang province to Bookkwan and to Kwanseo. We studied each works and in the same time examined the poet's inner world shown in each place he traveled and the characteristics of the travel poets in detail.
