Abstract
This study aims to conceptualize various terminologies regarding regulation in the context of collaborative learning, including collaborative self-regulation, other regulation, socially shared regulation and co-regulation. Researchers also explored the factor structure of self-regulation in collaborative context, which has been suggested as one of the sub-constructs of co-regulation, in order to propose a measurement instrument for self-regulation in collaborative context. As the first step of scale development, 45 items were crafted based on self-regulation theories and its relevant constructs: cognition, behavior, and motivation. After confirming its content validity through expert review, a draft questionnaire was administered to 281 college students. Then item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were conducted, followed by modification of items based on the analysis results. Finally, total 22 items are identified to be included in the suggested instrument. This research attempted to elaborate the concept of self-regulation in collaborative context and to develop its scale, which may eventually contribute to the foundation of co-regulation research.
