국내 교육공학 분야 질적연구의 자료 분석 절차 탐색

초록

본 연구의 목적은 국내 교육공학 분야 질적연구의 자료 분석 절차를 탐색하는데 있다. 이를 위해 2000년~2018년까지『교육공학연구』와『교육정보미디어연구』에 실린 질적 논문 중 질적 연구방법을 사용한 논문 110편을 대상으로 내용분석(content analysis)을 진행하였다. 연구는 크게 ‘자료 수집 및 정리’, ‘자료 분석’, ‘결론 도출’ 등 3단계의 절차를 거쳤으며, 자료 분석의 타당성을 확보하기 위해 동료검토와 감사추적을 실시하였다. 연구결과 교육공학 분야 질적연구의 자료 분석 절차는 ‘조직하기’, ‘포괄적으로 이해하기’, ‘심층적으로 사고하기’, ‘검토하기’, ‘공유하기’ 등 총 5개의 범주와 26개의 코드로 정리되었다. 주요 분석 결과를 살펴보면, 참고한 분석 기준의 대부분이 해외 학자에 의해 제안된 것이었으며, 자료의 유형과 연구문제에 따라 다양한 분석 기법을 유연하게 적용하고 있었고, 연구 과정과 결과가 충분히 신뢰할 수 있고 타당하다는 것을 입증하려는 노력이 가시화되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 자료 분석 절차를 구체적으로 밝힌 연구에 비해, 모호하게 기술하거나 축약하거나 생략한 연구들이 상대적으로 많은 것으로 확인되었다. 이상의 연구결과에 기초하여 내부로부터 산출되는 질적 결과물에 대한 가치를 발견하고 확산시키기 위한 학회 차원의 노력, 개별 연구자들의 새로운 방법론적 도전을 적극 지지하고 권장할 수 있는 실천적 노력 등을 시사점으로 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the data analysis procedures of qualitative studies in the field of educational technology in Korea. For this purpose, we performed a content analysis in reference to the examples in 110 qualitative studies in the “Journal of Educational Technology” and “The Journal of Educational Information and Media” from 2000 to 2018. The study was largely carried out in three stages of ‘Data Collection and Organization’, ‘Data Analysis’ and ‘Conclusion’, and peer debriefing and expert audit review were conducted to secure the validity of the data analysis. From the results of the study, we identified five procedures of ‘Structuring’, ‘Comprehensive understanding’, ‘In-depth thinking’, ‘Checking’, ‘Sharing’ and 26 codes. The main results from the analysis showed that most of the analysis standards were proposed by foreign scholars decades ago, that various analytical methods were applied according to the type and research topics, and that there is a visible trend of working to prove that the research methods and results were sufficiently reliable and valid. However, there was still a relatively large number of studies where the data analysis procedures were vaguely worded, abbreviated or omitted compared to the number of studies where the data analysis procedures were explained in detail. Based on the above results, this study suggested implications including academic-level efforts from associations to discover and spread the value of qualitative results from within the association, as well as practical efforts to actively support and encourage new methodological challenges of individual researchers.
