지리 교과내 융합 교육과정 및 융합적 사고에 대한 탐색

초록

최근 우리나라 교육정책은 인문·사회·과학 소양을 갖춘 창의·융합형 인재 육성을 위한 문이과 통합교육과정에 초점을 두고 있다. 이 연구는 지리 교과와 다른 교과와의 융합에 앞서, 지리 교과 내 융합 교육과정 및 사고의 실천이 전제되어야 함을 강조한다. 왜냐하면 지리 교과는 본질적으로 인문학, 사회과학, 자연과학, 공학 및 기술 영역을 함께 다루는 종합적 교과의 성격을 지니기 때문이다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 지금까지 지리 교과는 칸막이적 교육과정 및 이분법적 사고에 매몰되어 이러한 다양한 영역을 유기적으로 융합하지 못한 결과를 낳았다. 따라서 지리 교과가 융합 교육과정을 구현하여 융합적 사고를 길러주려고 한다면, 지리 교과 내 융합이 선결되어야 한다. 이 연구는 지리 교과 내 융합교육과정의 사례로 ‘월드 지리’에서 ‘글로벌 지리’로의 전환을 모색하였다. 그리고 융합적 사고는 최근 지리학에서의 관계적 전환과 함께 강조되고 있는 관계적 사고, 그리고 홀리스틱 사고, 나아가 혼종적 사고에서 찾을 필요가 있다고 주장하였다.

Abstract

The South Korean Government emphasizes the idea of convergent curriculum for encouraging students creative and convergence thinking in the 2015 National Curriculum Reform policy. This study focuses on the ways in which the practice of a convergent curriculum and thinking within school geography can be promoted. The reason is that geography has a characteristic of subject that integrates humanity, social science, natural science, engineering and technology. Nevertheless, until now geography subject is suck in binary curriculum and thinking. Thus if geography nurtures students’ convergent thinking through convergent curriculum, convergence in the subject need to be achieved first. As case of convergent curriculum in geography, the study examines need to convert from world geography into global geography. And the study insist that convergent thinking corresponds with relational thinking, holistic thinking and hybrid thinking empathized with relational turn in recent geographical studies.
