이 글은 기존의 ‘자유(주의적) 민주주의’를 개인의 권리와 이익에 초점을 맞춘 ‘개인중심의 민주주의’로 규정하여 그것의 제한성과 난점을 드러내고 이를 극복하기 위한 정치철학적 기획의 일환으로서, ‘종합적포괄적 민주주의’를 대안적(代案的) 민주주의 모델로서 새롭게 개념적으로 정립하고자 시도하는, 인간중심철학의 ‘민주주의 정치론’을 비판적으로 검토해 보는데 일차적 목표를 두고 있다. 이를 위해 이 글에서는, 한편으로 개인적 존재이자 집단적 존재인 인간의 ‘존재방식’과 관련하여, 인간을 개인적 측면에 주안점을 두어 인지함으로써 개인의 자유와 권리, 이익을 우선시하는 개인주의적 민주주의가 마치 민주주의의 ‘전부’인양 간주해 온 지금까지의 민주주의에 대한 이해방식을 넘어서고자, ‘집단중심의 민주주의’의 성립 가능성을 제시하고 이어 그것의 한계를 비판적으로 적시하면서, 개인중심의 민주주의와 집단중심의 민주주의를 변증법적으로 통합한 ‘종합적 민주주의’를 새롭게 정립하려는 정치철학적 시도에 관해 비판적 고찰이 수행된다. 다른 한편으로 민주주의를 정치적 영역에 한정된 협애한 것으로 간주해온 이제까지의 민주주의에 대한 인식 관행을 벗어나 민주주의를 개념적으로 확장하여, 정치적 차원을 넘어 경제적문화적 영역까지 아우르는 그야말로 인간 삶의 모든 영역에 대한 기본적 규제 원리로서의 민주주의, 곧 ‘포괄적 민주주의’를 정초하려는 정치철학적 기획에 대해 비판적 검토가 시도된다.
Abstract
This paper is intended to investigate critically the political theory of democracy in the Man-centered Philosophy which tries to construct critically ‘syntheticcomprehensive democracy’ as the alternative democracy model, in the name of the project of political philosophy that is supposed to overcome the limits and various crucial problems of the old democracy model, namely ‘liberal democracy’ which is defined as individualistic democracy by Man-centered Philosophy. For that purpose, on the one hand this paper performs the task to inquire into the political-philosophical attempt to establish ‘synthetic democracy’ which tries to unify dialectically both individualistic democracy and collectivist democracy altogether to get over the way of understanding that has been tend to regard the form of individualistic democracy as the whole of democracy till now, presenting the possibility of the establishment of collectivist democracy model. On the other hand, this paper tries to make an critical examination on the project of laying the foundation on ‘comprehensive democracy’ as the fundamental principles of regulation on the whole spheres of human lives including the economicalcultural domains as well as political field.
