이 글은 연구 작업을 수행해 나가는 과정에서―학문적 진리탐구나 학자적 사명 의식 못지않게, 연구 활동의 활발한 추진과 그에 따른 학문적 성과를 산출해 내는데 있어서 주된 동력원으로서 기능하고 있는―연구주체의 사적 이익은 연구윤리를 준수하고 그것에 의해 인도되어 추구되는 경우에만 규범적 차원에서 정당한 추동력으로 인정받을 수 있으며 아울러 사적 이익의 성취 역시 윤리적 보증 아래 정당하고 안전하게 달성될 수 있다는 사실을 통찰함으로써, 공익이나 규범적 정당성에 ‘전적으로’ 의거하여 연구윤리의 준수를 요구하는 기존의 윤리학적 논의방식의 한계를 지적하고, 이어 연구부정행위를 방지하고 연구주체들에 의해 자발적인 연구윤리의 준수가 현실화될 수 있는 실천방안을 모색하고자 한다면 ‘윤리적 당위성’ 뿐 아니라 ‘현실적 필연성’에도 주목하여 ‘연구윤리학적 접근방식’이 새롭게 재구성될 필요가 있다는 점을 설득력 있게 보여주는 데 일차적 목적을 두고 있다.
Abstract
In this paper, I intend to point out the limits and problems of the existing ethical processes of argument which demands the observance of research ethics from researcher ‘entirely’ relying on public interests or normative justifiability, by inquiring into the fact that the private interests of researcher can be recognized as legitimate dynamic in the normative level and the fulfillment of private interests can be achieved justifiably and safely under guarantee of ethics only in case of observing research ethics and being guided by that. Then in doing so, I also intend to show the fact that if we want to try to grope for the practical way to realize the prevention of research misconduct and the spontaneous observance of research ethics, we have to reconstruct newly ‘research ethical approach’ focusing on not only ‘ethical justifiability’ but also ‘actual necessity’.
