심리치료와 철학상담의 발전적 관계에 대한 모색

근자에 우리 인문학계와 철학계에는 소수자, 약자를 위한 인문학 활동이나 철학 활동이 활발하게 전개되고 있다. 이 와중에서 철학상담에 대한 연구도 점차 확산되고 있다. 1980년대 유럽, 미국, 캐나다 등을 중심으로 확산된 철학상담은 오늘날 우리 철학계에도 미미하지만 점차적으로 개진되고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 유감스럽게도 우리 철학상담에 대한 연구는 기존의 정신치료나 심리치료와 다소 대결적인 형태로 전개되고 있다. 하지만 철학이 분과학문을 무시할 때 철학 스스로의 빈곤을 초래하듯이, 철학상담이 정신의학이나 심리학과 거리를 두게 될 때 마찬가지로 빈곤을 초래하게 된다. 물론 정신치료나 심리치료가 과학적 법칙주의를 표방하여 인간의 고통을 육체적 아픔이나 심리적 아픔으로 환원하여 접근하게 될 경우, 그것 역시 가치관이나 세계관으로부터 비롯되는 고통을 제대로 치유할 수 없는 상황을 초래할 수 있다. 그러나 이와 같은 문제는 심리치료 영역 내부에서도 이미 반성적으로 고찰되고 있으며, 그리고 이 문제를 해결하기 위해서 심리학 역시 철학에서 도움을 얻고자 한다. 그렇다면 철학 역시 인간의 아픔을 추상적으로 접근하지 않고 구체적으로 접근할 수 있기 위해서는 의학이나 심리학과 소통해야 할 것이다. 인간의 고통이 마음의 고(苦)와 육체의 통(痛)으로 이루어져 있듯이, 치유 역시 전체적 관점에서 이루어져야 한다.
Abstract
Recently, the scholars who make a study of the humanities and philosophy are interested in the minorities and the weak. The philosophical counseling is involved in this stream of the times. The philosophical counseling which the philosophers in Europe, America, and Canada began to research was introduced into our philosophical societies too. Some philosophers in Korea also wrote the papers and books about the philosophical counseling. But they have tried to contrast the philosophical counseling with the psychotherapy. However, as the philosophy is poor when it neglects many other sciences, so the philosophical counseling is poor when it does psychiatry and psychology. On the contrary, if psychiatrists and psychologists reduce human pains into bodily aches or psychological pains, they cannot treat the pains suffered from the conflicts of world views and values. But fortunately, they acknowledged the limits of this reduction, and would also have help from philosophy. If so, the philosophers should also communicate with the psychiatrists and psychologists in order to treat human pains in the concrete. As the human pains is composed of the sufferings and aches, so the treatment should be done in the holistic viewpoints.
