초록

이 글은 데카르트 철학―특히 그의 철학적 문제의식과 그에 따른 새로운 철학 체계의 정립 의도 및 방법론적 전략―에 관한 지금까지의 관행적인 해석상의 문제와 한계를 비판적으로 성찰해 봄으로써 ‘텍스트 중심주의’에 지나치게 한정하여 이루어진 ‘전통적인 데카르트 상(像)’에 반(反)하여, 데카르트 철학과 그 근본토대로서 ‘Cogito ergo sum’을 17세기 당시의 시․공간적 맥락과 현실적 상황에 연관지어 ‘사회철학의 관점’에서 새롭게 비판적으로 해명해 보고자 한다. 이러한 작업을 통해, 이 글은 무엇보다 철학의 제1원리로서 기능하는 ‘Cogito ergo sum’과 그것에 기초한 데카르트의 철학적 기획은, ‘종교적 세계관’에 근거하고 있던 17세기 당시 유럽의 ‘낡은 신분제적 질서’를 타파하고 ‘인간 중심의 근대 시민사회’를 건립해 나가는 데 있어서, 한편으로는 그러한 근대사회의 새로운 사회질서 구현 의 ‘이념적 정당화 논리’로서 개진된 것이라는 점을, 다른 한편으로는 그처럼 탈종교적이며 탈신분제적인 근대적 시민사회 질서를 구현해 나갈 선도적 주체로서 당시 부상하고 있던 ‘시민계급’의 시대적 역할과 이해관계를 대변하고 옹호하는 ‘계급적 정당화 논리’로서 제기되고 있다는 점을 사회철학의 관점에서 규명해 보고자 한다.

Abstract

In this paper, I make an attempt to clarify anew the practical- philosophical implications inherent in Descartes' philosophical first principle, namely ‘Cogito ergo sum’ and his philosophical project that is based on that first principle of philosophy. That is to say, I attempt eagerly to reveal from the social philosophical point of view the fact that such a fundamental principle and philosophical project have been presented, on the on hand as ‘the ideological justification logic’ of the realization of the new social order in the modern civil society, and on the other hand as ‘the class justification logic’ to speak for and defend the role of the times of bourgeoisie(class of citizens) and their interest of class, in doing away of the ‘theocentric’ society of status system in the 17th century and realizing the new ‘man-centered’ civil society.
