Abstract

The objective of this study is to look for differences between need for cognition and gender towards mobile advertisements in the areas of attitude towards emotional response, favourability, attitude towards corporation. As a result, there were interaction between need for cognition and gender towards mobile advertisements in the areas of attitude towards emotional response, favourability, attitude towards corporation. Gender wise, females tended to show higher emotional response or favourability and positive attitude towards corporation as the need for cognition increases. In case of males, lower need for cognition showed higher emotional response or favourability than higher need for cognition. However, there were no differences in attitude towards corporation. Based on this result that shows different response towards mobile advertisements between need for cognition and gender provides the basis that not only gender but also need for cognition can be considered as a key market segmentation factor. This means in order to reinforce or change consumer attitude through mobile advertisement gender as well as need for cognition should both be considered. As a recommendation of this study the effect of different types of mobile advertisement(text message, banner, vocal audio, video etc) must be conducted. In addition, the generalized critical point is also presented as a result of this study.
